Rita Catherine O'Reilly Smith

Passed away peacefully on February 16, 2018 at the remarkable age of 93 surrounded by her children. She was a devoted wife, predeceased by her deeply beloved husband and best friend, Peter N. F. Smith. Rita was the loving mother of six children, Sara, Carol and Paul, predeceased by Phillip, Peter John and Kathy. She was the proud grandmother of Andreas, Sarah, Robin, Donavan and Jessica and cherished great-grandmother of Nolan and Cameron. She was a treasured mother-in-law, sister, aunt, great-aunt and dear friend to so many. Born in Oshawa, Ontario, Rita worked in banking for a number of years, where she met Peter, her dearly loved Englishman. She was actively involved in numerous community and charitable organizations. Rita’s passion and joy was her family and close friends. Friends may call at the THOMPSON FUNERAL HOME 530 Industrial Parkway South, Aurora on Thursday February 22, 6 – 9pm. A celebration of Rita’s life will be held at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church 15347 Yonge Street Aurora on Friday February 23 at 10am.
