Margaret MacKrell

Margaret immigrated with her family to Canada, from Scotland, in 1972 with the typical immigrant dream of a life of opportunity for her family. Overcoming intense early homesickness, she went on to build a beautiful life for herself, her husband, and sons. For this, we are very grateful.

She wasn’t a captain of industry nor was she particularly well travelled. What she had was a keen intelligence, a strong faith, and a direct style. She was one to observe a room rather than demand the center of attention. She had many favourites, particularly “adopted daughters” that she acquired over the years. She was quick to laugh and had a smile that radiated heat. She was the person you wanted to talk to. She was so good to so many. She adored her grandkids and, among other things, taught them to drink “scotch on the rocks”, and embrace the joy of beauty baths. She was the tie that bound so many people. She was a wife to Gerry, a mother to Gerry (Judy), Graeme (Amanda). A Grandmother to Gillian (Mark), Alec (Helina), Sarah (Kevin) Sean and Russell. A Great Grandmother to Madison, Finnley, Westley and Andrew. A sister to Bill and Sandra and a Daughter to Anne. She will be missed. In pain for over 30 years, she is now free from suffering. She was Margaret MacKrell (Keegans).

In lieu of flowers, if you feel so compelled, a gift to Southlake Regional Health Center in Newmarket would be appreciated. It is a wonderful place.

A memorial mass for Margaret will be held Tuesday, January 24, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Our Lady Of Grace Parish, 15347 Yonge Street, Aurora, ON L4G1N7. Following the memorial mass will be a reception from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Thompson Funeral Home, 530 Industrial Parkway South, Aurora, ON L4G6W8.
