Passed on December 23, 2022, at Southlake Residential Care Village at the age of 94. Beloved wife of the late Garnet for 50 years. Loving mother of Katherine (Gary), Laura and Carolyn (Joe). Devoted Grandmother to Christine (Sean), Robert (Andra), Adrienne (Brad), Robert (Lisa), Michael (Amanda), Jonathon (Lisa), Sarah (Phil) and Marcello. Great Grandmother to Sydney, Mitchell, Hayden, Addison, Avery, James, Riley, Austin, Alex, Emma, Olivia, Jessica, Madison and Wyatt. Predeceased by brother Lloyd and sister Violet.
Lily was born on April 7, 1928, in Broderick, Saskatchewan to William and Katie Smythe. She was a graduate of secretarial school and took her first job with the Federal Government from 1945 to 1953. Lily had always had a great love for the province of Saskatchewan. She had many happy memories of band concerts in Wascana Park and enjoyed long walks down country roads by the wheat fields. She was always proud to say she was a westerner.
She moved to Ontario in 1959 and was a homemaker for 17 years. She rejoined the workforce and worked at Northern & Central Gas from 1970 to 1993 and retired at 65. Lily was an avid Blue Jays fans and held season tickets for many years and never missed a Blue Jays game. Lily enjoyed Christmastime. She loved baking her delicious cookies and spending quality time with her family.
Her hobbies included Large Print word searches, reading fictional books, knitting, and needlepoint. She is famous for her Yorkshire Puddings which will never be replicated ever again.
