He will be greatly missed by many nieces and nephews particularly Elizabeth Pepin, Tom Miller, Nadine Pepin and Sarah Pepin. John is predeceased by parents Thomas and Elizabeth (Cape), brothers Joe and Tom.
John was born in Glasgow, Scotland on July 16, 1940, emigrated to Canada in 1957 and married Nan in 1960. Soon afterwards he joined Ontario Hydro and worked at both the Lakeview and R.L. Hearn Generating Stations. He retired from Ontario Hydro in 1993 after a successful 27-year career. Not one to sit still, he then embarked on a real estate career, quickly securing his license and spent a few years in the industry before joining Towers Perrin. After six years at Towers, he retired full-time and stayed busy gardening, playing with his grandchildren or walking his beloved Shelties, Sable and MacDuff.
John was an avid history buff, a die-hard Glasgow Rangers fan and could be always be relied upon to eat everyone’s haggis at any Robbie Burns night. He was a good friend to everyone who knew him and would always lend a helping hand whether it was painting, odd jobs or small repairs. In his younger years, he coached youth hockey and soccer.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the nursing staff and volunteers at Southlake Regional Health Centre. Their care and compassion for John was unsurpassed. If desired, donations to the Southlake Regional Health Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.ThompsonFH-Aurora.com for the Park family.
