We lost an amazing Mom, Wife and Friend after a short battle with cancer, on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at West Parry Sound Health Centre in her 87th year with her daughter Judy and son-in-law Gary Aylwin by her side.
Predeceased by her two son’s William (Billy) and Robert Turgeon and loving husband Lawrence Dowling. Sisters Joan Aylwin and Betty Patterson. Isabella will be dearly missed by her daughter Judy (Gary) Aylwin, step-children Brian (Christine) Dowling, Gail (Glenn) Morley, Andrew (Annie) Dowling, Sandra Dowling and Paul (Lynn) Dowling all of British Columbia. Sisters Margaret (Bruce) Dickinson, Oshawa, Joyce Martin, Barrie and brother Donald Peat, Markham. Plus her best friend Wilhelmina - Billy (Ray) Yusczyk, Florida. She had a special relationship with Sandra (Doug) Boon who was also always there to help if needed. She leaves behind many other family members and friends. Isabella worked her whole life in the Corporate Restaurant business until she met Lawrence Dowling who she made everyone aware that her life did not start until the day she traveled to British Columbia and married Larry. He was the love of her life. Having arrived in B.C. she was also confronted with five step-children who welcomed her into their lives and supported and cared for her until and after she moved back to Ontario to live with her daughter. She loved the last four years living and boating on the lake plus wintering in Florida. Even at 87 she never stopped shopping until she dropped and loved going to the Legion in Florida for a few or scratching Bingo tickets. Izzy would always help anyone that needed it. She took her son in to live with her when he was diagnosed with MD and also took her nephew Ryan in to live with her when he showed up on her door step. When she was working anyone that needed a job could always go to Isabella and she would put them to work. She was an animal lover and missed her dog Princess terribly once she passed. A very special heartfelt thank you to Wendy Lutczyn (niece), Melissa St. Germaine-Small and Nancy Oswald for being there these last few weeks. They would drop everything to come help with whatever was needed. Mom loved having them come and look after her and would continue to ask daily when they would be back up. Also the Palliative Care Unit at the West Parry Sound Health Unit which she called home for the last month. The nurses loved Isabella’s feistiness and her stories. She keep them laughing.
Cremation has taken place with further arrangements being entrusted to Thompson Funeral Home in Aurora. A Memorial Service will be held in White Rock, B.C. at a later date at which time Isabella will be reunited with Larry. If desired, memorial donations to West Parry Sound Health Unit, Palliative Care Unit or to any SPCA or Animal Rescue would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
