I am deeply saddened to have learned of the passing of Hubert.  Hubert and my family have been cottage neighbours for almost 55 years and Hubert was a cherished friend, particularly of my late father.  After my parent’s wedding in 1973, they left the reception and headed to the cottage, arriving after midnight to find Hubert standing on the dock playing the Wedding March on his trumpet.  Hubert was a fascinating storyteller and wildly talented at everything. I have so many fond memories of my childhood spending time on Buckhorn Lake with Hubert.  My condolences to Ruth, Kristine and family.

Auch wir als Familie, Manuela Frank Lara Moritz und Saskia möchten unser aufrichtiges Beileid sagen. Hubert war mir ein guter Onkel, wir werden ihn sehr vermissen, es tut weh daran zu denken. Er war ein Mensch der besonderen Klasse, immer zu Spaß aufgelegt. Er konnte so schöne Geschichten erzählen. Sein ganzer Stolz waren seine Kinder und Enkelkinder. Wir haben  sehr viele schöne Stunden miteinander verbracht ob in Toronto, Buckhorn oder Muskoka. Er wird uns fehlen, wir sind in Gedanken bei euch.

The  Parks sincere condolences , To the  Lapp Family. ❤️ I remember, I was a helper at classic elevator with Hubert when I first started in the trade  1988 .He’s good friends and my grandfather Jack,  he worked at Ajax Elevator  as well. I remember seeing them when I came in as a kid at the shop on Midland ave. But when I first started the trade, Hubert was tough on me and you know what when I was young I sometimes I didn’t like it but overall in my elevator career I’m so happy that I had him as my mechanic for a while. I did learn!  and I did become a man working with Hubie. Excellent troubleshooter, we  will  all  miss   Hubert Lapp .

Dear Ruth, dear Kristine, dear Paul, Sam and Daniel,
Hubert's death is painful. But thoughts of Hubert are full of good memories. These memories will always remain in our minds and hearts:
Wherever Hubert was, there was always positive energy and a special atmosphere
His positive charisma has always been transferred to us.
Hubert has always treated us with respect and recognition.
Hubert enjoyed dealing with the younger generation in particular.
He had a sense of justice.
Everyone was enthusiastic about his stories and he was able to pack even sad messages into a rousing and enjoyable story.
Hubert never forgot his homeland and hometown and always kept in touch with friends and family in Germany and Zweibrücken. Ixheim and the “Red Ox” were the focus of many experiences.
His last visit to Zweibrücken with Sam is unforgettable. Without announcement, he sneaked onto Heinz and Moni's back porch and simply sat down at the table. What a surprise that was!
Hubert was a friend to all people and that is how we will remember him!
We are so grateful that we were able to meet Hubert!

Just heard the sad news. My deepest condolences to Ruth , Kristine and the whole family. I’m sure that Hubert is playing the trumpet right beside Bobby.

This is too hard.... How does one find the words to express such heartfelt grief?
My family has known Ruth & Hubert since shortly after we immigrated to Canada in the mid to late 60s.  My parents, who didn't know the language well, were standing outside of the deli, Ziggy's, Scarborough Town Center, when my father turned to my mother and said, in German, "what are we going to do with the kids for 2 months during summer?"  Standing nearby, Ruth & Hubert, overheard the conversation, they walked over and Hubert asked, "how old are the kids?", in German, of course; he was happy with the reply and said, "bring them up to our cottage for the summer" and, the rest is history; I think we all just got adopted.  We spent years building beautiful memories on Buckhorn Lake & Military Trail.
Hubert loved his family, he loved the family cottage and he loved to play his trumpet for the roasting pig on the spit for all to enjoy.  He was super creative in the kitchen, always adding more knoblauch/garlic to the special meals and, to top it off, almost always, we celebrated with Shampooooos (Hubie's name for champagne). The endless stories are joyful & loving and I will cherish & reflect on them in years to come.
My dearest Ruth & Kristine, Paul, Samantha & Daniel, may you find comfort & peace knowing that he loved & lived with all his heart & was loved & respected by all who knew him.  Hubert left his gentle touch on our lives & made a lasting beautiful impression.  We will never forget!  We will forever be grateful!!

Hubie worked at Westinghouse with my father , Hector Johnson.  My Dad thought the world of Hubie, and I remember him fondly from many childhood visits to our home.   Later in life when I joined them working in the elevator trade I had the honour of working with Hubie while he “showed me the ropes”.  He was a fine mechanic and a better gentleman.  I had many enjoyable times with Hubie, Bucky, Bobby and the rest of the guys.  Hubie was universally liked and he was quick with a story or a laugh.  He will be missed, but I know he lived the life he wanted.

I was so sorry to hear about the passing of Mr. Lapp. My condolences to the entire family. I remember growing up and enjoying many memories at Buckhorn Lake between our 2 families. Late night trumpet playing, Mr. Lapp catching frogs and feeding them to the snakes , the building of our beautiful dining room chandelier , skiing behind your boat with Bobby and Kristine, to celebrating Mum and Dad's 50th wedding anniversary with a trumpet salute. I remember his smile and wonderful laugh. Sending hugs to you Mrs. Lapp and Kristine during this difficult time.

Firstly, I would like to extend our deepest sympathy on the passing of an extraordinary man, your husband and father. He will be truly missed but was well loved and admired.
Growing up at the cottage with your family brought only joy and many wonderful memories to my family, especially my parents Jean and Carol Crombie. So many times and sharing of special moments   (Bobby's birthday parties, anniversaries or just random nights ) were part of my childhood. 
I still remember the time Mr. Lapp was making Dad for his 50th birthday the beautiful wagon wheel light fixture to hang over the living room area in the cottage. Your dad would often go into the under part of the cottage to rake around for old pieces of wood to use on the project. I can still see the look on Dad's face when he would watch him. He never said anything as he knew your dad must of had a good reason for it. Never did he believe it when he presented it to my Dad on this special occasion. A very generous token which was cherished for years.
 What a lovely and kind man he was. Always smiling and the life of the party. Memories of your dad playing the trumpet was always a special moment for our family. He never hesitated to play for us whether it was late at night, playing as he walked into the water - a particular favorite memory of mine, or at my parents 50th wedding anniversary. Such a unselfish man.
Another memory of mine was watching him feed the bull frogs in the little pond between us. Now, I'm not going to say what he feed them but I still chuckle to myself all these years later. 
I guess you can say that our families were life long friends for many years. It didn't matter that one came from England, the other Germany. These things were never spoken of.  It was true friendship that bonded us all together.  We were blessed to have your Dad in our lives. Thinking of you all at this sad time.

Please accept sincere condolences from our entire family for your terrible loss.   All of our girls knew Hubie and have always spoken very fondly of him.  Not only was he a personal friend of both Monika and me, I had the pleasure of working along side of him in the elevator industry for almost 40 years.  Over that span of time we shared many stories and many 'charlies'.   

He was a true gentleman.  Rest in peace Hubie, hopefully we'll meet again.   Your olde pal, 'Buck'
