I am grateful and proud to be Jean's daughter-in-law.  Jeannie as I liked to call her, was such a remarkable woman and will be missed by all who were lucky enough to have shared in her life.

When I think about her, the thing that defined Jeannie was her mindfulness.  Although she might not have known what the term was all about, she was a living example of living in the moment, and of acceptance.  She would never get too rattled about anything (other than birds!) and could easily go with the flow.  She was a pleasure to be around, I learned so much from her simply by how she lived her life.  She found satisfaction and enjoyment in all of the little things in life, like sharing a cup of coffee and dessert with friends and family, tidying her apartment watching t.v., reading, or chatting on the phone. 

She was kind and thoughtful, patient, accepting, and always saw life from the bright side. Despite struggles over the course of her life, she would never complain, and was always gracious with others, and made everyone feel good.

During the last few years of her life, she struggled with dementia.  Despite this, her essence still shone through as the staff at Parkview Long Term Care described her in a way that reflected her personality, kind, gracious, friendly, and joyful.  So thankful for Marci ad her husband Paul for giving up so much to care for her in the last few years of her life.  And so thankful for the compassionate care she received during her time at Parkview Long Term Care in Stouffville.  They are special people doing God's work that's for sure.

Jean was my mom’s cousin, Barbara Pirie.  
My memories of Jean go way back with Grandma Creasy, then with Aunt Muriel.  I remember her as a beautiful woman so humble.  She took such good care of Aunt Muriel.  They were like sisters.

Your bright smile and infectious laughter will be missed. From years of visiting us when you lived in Winnipeg, to seeing you with Marci and Paul wherever they were, to when you moved to Ontario to be closer to us, you always made us feel welcome and loved. Thanks for being one of my #1 fans at hockey (alongside my parents of course), I could feel your love for sports even when I was on the ice. Thanks for the amazing stories you told us about the years of your life where us grandkids weren't even a cell, you had newspaper clippings and personal anecdotes on a time that we couldn't even imagine happened, and it was beyond fascinating to hear about them. You raised two amazing kids in my dad and aunt, and a lot of my best qualities of myself stem from them, and in turn from you. We will miss you dearly, I am so lucky to be able to call you my grandma. I love you

Grandma Jean was truly an amazing woman, and had the kindest heart. She was the grandmother I never had, alongside Grandma Marilyn (as both of my grandmothers passed before I was born) and I feel honoured to have the privilege of getting to call her this for the last 9 years. Her great stories and friendly smile will be greatly missed, but our memories with her will live on forever. 

Grandma Jean was a one-of-a-kind woman, and I feel honoured to have been not only her granddaughter, but also her namesake. Every time I write my middle name, I will be reminded of her poise and kindness, two characteristics that she never wavered from.  Grandma Jean was that and more, because in my whole life, I had never heard her express any emotion other than joy, when she taught us kids to play Old Maid, shared book recommendations, or listened to music around the dinner table. I know I will miss her a lot, but I’ll think of her when I see my own hooded eyes. I feel so grateful for the long life that she had and that I was a part of it.

My Mom is one of the greats. She was such an influence on my life, the way I look at the world, alway knowing she had my back, and my brother’s. We had our rock. She gave us a stable, calm home, and we were so secure in her love. 
She let me make my own decisions, pointing out implications, in case I did take a wrong turn, but always gave us that freedom of choice. I knew I could always come home and did that a couple of times! She was the most non-judgemental, open minded person, always listening with empathy and understanding. Everything her family and friends are remembering about her,  ring so true.  As my brother said, she is the definition of a wonderful, kind, optimistic, beautiful person. 
My husband Paul and I will treasure all the amazing memories of our time together…….our trips, her staying with us to be out of the winters, and just the day to day simple things of doing those things together. 
She was dedicated to her family, never wavering in that love. I am so lucky and proud that she was my Mom for 74 years, and I will treasure and love her forever. 

Jean was my favourite, special friend ❤️  We shared many stories of our families, being mother and mother-in-law to one special family, sharing grandchildren stories.  She was kind, gentle and easy to talk to about anything.  I loved her and will miss her smile, but will have her memory in my heart.

When I think of my Mom, I think of her character as a person. This is her ultimate legacy.  I would describe her as "pure of heart," in the sense that she thought good of others, and was generally accepting and nonjudgmental of other people.  It is safe to say that everyone resonated to her and liked her.  She also had the remarkable ability to be present in the moment, no matter what she was doing.  She noticed and enjoyed a good meal, a beautiful sky, or a catchy song.  In conversation, she was totally in the moment with you, and you were better off for it.  Our sadness is surpassed by our admiration of her and our gratitude for having her in our lives for so many years.  Honour her by treating each other in way she treated others.  Find the good in the world and in other people, connect with others, enjoy the moment, read a good book, sing along to a catchy song, and find a reason to laugh.  Here's to you Mrs. Robinson....may you rest in peace.

Jean is in our prayers and hearts as she enters into eternal life.  We loved her and were blessed to have our ‘honorary grandmother’ with us for so many joyful family events and holidays.   Marc and PJ, you did your mother proud!
