Elizabeth was always a light in the storm for many people including me. She cared for my Buddy Boy as if he were her own. She was warm, friendly, had such empathy, such a sense of responsibility for all in her charge. The world is a little darker now her light is no longer shining…..she touched so many.

My dear Aunt, you were like a second mother to me.My father’s twin and an integral part of our family from the very beginning.

Today, I had a question I needed answered, and my first instinct was to call you. I am already deeply missing you.

I think back fondly of our time together, staying at your house, the sleepovers with Charlotte and our 8am waffle wake up call. Also, your trips to the cottage made ours even more special. The white dogs running around getting filthy in the mud. Our camp nights on the deck, swimming, birdwatching, photography, our cruise, and Florida trip where we spent hours each day photographing pelicans. All those moments remain precious.

I’ll miss early morning chats. Your infectious joy, your boundless energy, and our shared understanding of being the youngest girl in the family. You always knew the challenges of being heard, and it comforted me knowing you understood.

I was blessed to know you not only as family but also in the professional world. Working with you was a true honour. You were so accomplished, a true leader and an inspiration—someone I admired deeply. My career wouldn't be where I was if it wasn’t for what you demonstrated. The bonds you made with everyone in the workplace and beyond was so inspiring.

Your love and loyalty to our family, the connection you shared with us all and including our pets, goes without saying. You helped save Dad’s life and you were there to support us during those difficult times as well as the joyous ones.

The warmth you extended to Jon and the affection you had with our kids—your great-niece and nephews. I am so glad you got to see them recently.

You leave behind a legacy of community, strength, and kindness. Your joy and compassion will be carried on in our family and we will hold your memory in our hearts always. Love Christine, Jon, Andrew, Evan and Juliet.

I was first introduced to Elizabeth for doggy daycare. It was love at first sight for my family and my pup. Elizabeth was vibrant, full of life and so caring. We felt at ease knowing our little girl was well cared for as Elizabeth considered herself Sugars 2nd mom in my absence. Our friendship bloomed over the last 11 years. My work colleagues all knew her as my adoptive aunt  as she was fondly referred as. Not that you would expect special perks being “related” to a Mackenzie Health Hospital staff member but it sure helped at times. It was on my working days, I was fortunate enough to spend my lunch hour with her when she was admitted. The best days were wheelchair outings to Mill pond where Elizabeth chatted to every passing dog!  I will especially miss my regular Saturday visits chatting around the kitchen table, watching the birds in the garden while eating Elizabeths amazing soup for lunch. She was a great cook amongst many other things.  Her love for animals/birds was unwavering. If it had a heartbeat she fed it, Elizabeth and Bills back garden oasis, is  like a Mandarin Buffet for the wild creatures that are routinely fed every day even in the frigid cold of winter! That’s pure love and dedication.
Elizabeths smile was contagious, her eyes were warm, her heart was massive and the void she now leaves in this world is just as big!! Heartfelt Condolences to Bill ❤️ And all of her family and friends.  Elizabeth will be missed dearly.

So many fond memories of Elizabeth from our many years at Bell …from the Business Office in Barrie in the 70’s to ?our Phonecentre days. Elizabeth was always happy and positive…her attitude reflected on every one else. Her passion for the animals in her live was so great…the first one I remember was her Timmie and the rest just kept following. Deepest condolences to Bill and her Family who she talked about often with love. Thank you Elizabeth for our 50 years of Friendship. Rest in Peace.
