David is survived by his wife of 59 years, Christiane, sons Michael (Deahanna), Stephen (Andrea), Sean and Phillip, and many loving grandchildren (Harrison, Rachael, Olivia, Chelsea, Max, Thea, Sarah, Elizabeth, Evan and Alex). David (“papa”) was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, colleague and friend.
David was a very humble, modest and private person. He possessed a very witty “British” sense of humour, often dry and unexpected but never distasteful nor discourteous. Always his own man, his integrity was never ‘bent’ by convention.
David loved his 60 year career as a Civil Engineer, specializing in the tunneling industry. David worked until the day he was admitted to the hospital. He graduated from the University of Manchester as a Professional Engineer, was a founding member of the Tunneling Association of Canada and past President and 15 year Director of the Ontario Sewer and Watermain Construction Association. When David was not at work, he could be found in his workshop restoring his vintage Jaguar motor cars or spending time with his family.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the Southlake Regional Health Centre for their loving care, endless attention and tireless support.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 7:00PM until 9:00 PM at Thompson Funeral Home, 530 Industrial Parkway South, Aurora, Ontario, on Thursday, May 18th 2017. Memorial donations may be made to the Southlake Foundation-CVICU (Cardiovascular Intensive Care unit) Southlakefoundation.ca
