Daniel Bartholomew Lehmkuhl

It is with unimaginable sadness that we share the sudden passing of Daniel Lehmkuhl, age 38. Born in Aurora, Ontario, on December 12th, 1985, Dan tragically passed away on December 13th, 2023 near Cookstown. Dan is survived by the love of his life for over 20 years, Laura (nee Hall), who he married in 2010; their children, Jackson and Madeline; Dan’s parents, Peter (Linda) and Nancy; his brother Michael (Alice) and extended families.

A natural athlete and exceptional baseball player, Dan spent most of his childhood, adolescence, and adult life playing the game he loved with the people he loved. Celebrated by all for his many talents, there seemed to be nothing on the baseball field that Dan couldn’t do. Off the field, Dan brought his same high energy and endless skillsets into everything he did. Birdie Beers on the golf course, early mornings mixed with late nights in cottage country and frequent reunions with East Coast friends — Dan’s total joy for life was consistently contagious. When sharing an adventure, a class, the field, or a drink together with Dan, he always had the exceptional ability to make everyone around him feel at ease. Dan leaves behind an immense group of friends – all who are deeply impacted by his distinctive character.

Accomplished as he was, Dan was most proud of his role as a father. Dan and Laura taught their two amazing children to be thoughtful, adventurous, and confident. Dan was determined to give Jack and Maddie every experience he could, and he was never better or happier than when he was able to share time with them. Whether it was throwing batting practice, hitting balls at the range, backyard or backcountry campfires, hiking, canoe trips, building something for the house, casting a line or just reading a book at bedtime, Dan was immensely proud of his children.

On annual family trips to Algonquin backcountry, Dan taught the kids (and Laura) the basics of portaging, camp essentials and the importance of happy dry feet. These and so many other memories of Dan will last forever.

Dan will be profoundly missed and forever loved by all.

A visitation for Daniel will be held Friday, December 22, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Trinity Anglican Church, 79 Victoria St, Aurora, ON L4G1R3, followed by a Memorial Service at 1:00 PM.
