Barbara Morton passed away peacefully on Saturday April 5, 2025, in Newmarket, Ontario, at the age of 83. Born in Toronto and raised in Richvale and Willowdale, Barbara enjoyed a happy childhood surrounded by her loving Irish-Ukrainian family. She found joy in gardening, reading - with a cat on her lap and a cup of coffee in her hand, history, baking, sewing, and time spent working and relaxing at the family cottage. She carried a lifelong appreciation for nature and animals. A strong and independent thinker, Barbara believed deeply in equity and never hesitated to speak up for what mattered.
In 1968, Barbara married her husband Lynn Morton, who survives her. Together, they had two daughters, Anastasia Stacey Thompson (Jason Thompson) and Melissa Morton, and a son, Thaddeus Morton, who passed away in childhood. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to William Thompson.
Barbara is also survived by her brother, George Lowry, and many cherished cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family members. She was predeceased by her sisters, Marilyn Willis and Irene Rastall, and her parents, Pauline Klodniski and Hector Lowry.
Cremation has taken place, and a private celebration of life will be held on April 16, 2025.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff and volunteers at Margaret Bahen Hospice for their compassionate care, and to the residents and staff of Sharon Corners Retirement Home for their kindness and support.
