Anita Szucs (nee Schaeffler) passed away June 11, 2023 with family lovingly at her side. Born in Germany on December 6, 1928, she is predeceased by the love of her life, Joseph, and her siblings Theo, Gustl, Mathilde and Sophie. Those who will miss her most are her three children - Louis, Rosemary (Bryon), and Annett, her four grandchildren - Adam (Catherine), Bethany (Darcy), Rochelle (Jonathan) and Krystien (Nicole), and three great grandchildren - Abigail, Peter, and Emilia, all of whom will cherish her generous spirit and all-encompassing hugs.
Anita lived a full life, immigrating to Canada where, together with Joseph, she enjoyed travelling and extending gracious hospitality to family and friends, sharing good food and lively conversation. Never one to seek the spotlight, she nevertheless loved to bless others with her delicious baking and never passed up a friendly and competitive game of cards. A gifted artist, Anita spent leisure time crafting beautiful needlework and, more recently, painting. But she loved singing most of all, sharing her gift as a choir member at Blessed Trinity Church in North York, and Our Lady of Grace Church in Aurora.
She will remain forever in our hearts. We give heartfelt thanks to Dr. Tobias and Dr. Burger, and to the loving and compassionate nurses in the Palliative Care Unit at Mackenzie Health. In keeping with her preference for a small and intimate funeral, on Monday, June 19 there will be a short visitation from 12:00 pm-1:00 pm followed by the funeral at 1:00 pm, at Blessed Trinity Parish, 3220 Bayview Avenue, North York. Interment to follow at Aurora Cemetery, 14253 Yonge Street.
In lieu of flowers, family and friends may make contributions to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.ThompsonFH-Aurora.com for the Szucs family.
