With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Theodore “Ted” Leo Maestas, who left us on Saturday, February 8, 2025 in Aurora, CO. Born on April 18, 1958, in Colorado to the late Felicitas Serna and Jose Maestas, Ted was a beloved son, brother, partner, father, uncle, and friend.
Ted was a devoted co-parent, uncle, and friend—someone who could always be counted on to be there when needed. His kindness, generosity, and unwavering support touched the lives of all who knew him.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving partner, Manuel Mercado, and his son, Giovanni Mercado, both of Centennial. He is also survived by his siblings: Lorenzo Sandoval of Commerce City, Robert Maestas of Broomfield, Joseph Sandoval, Joe Maestas, Dennis Maestas, Angelica Maestas, Louis Maestas, Greg Maestas, and Martha Maestas, all of Denver, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will deeply miss him.
Ted’s presence brought warmth and love to those around him, and his memory will forever be held close in the hearts of those who loved him.
A funeral service for Theodore will be held Thursday, February 20, 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Advantage Aurora Chase Chapel, 1095 Havana Street, Aurora, CO 80010. A reception will occur immediately following at 1095 Havana Street, Aurora, CO 80010.
Theodore will be laid to rest in Olinger Hampden Cemetery, 8600 E Hampden Ave, Denver, CO 80231 on Thursday, February 20, 2025 from 2:00 PM
