Ronnie Ray Anthony's life journey reflects his commitment to both his community and his family. Born on September 30, 1956, to Charles and Levita Anthony, he embarked on a path enriched by faith, education, and dedication to his work.
Raised in a nurturing environment, Ron's spiritual foundation was established early on at Macedonia Baptist Church. His educational pursuits took him through Barrett Elementary School, Gove Junior High School, and East High School, where he not only excelled academically but also showcased his athletic prowess on the football and basketball teams. Ron's passion for sports was evident as he contributed to the Junior Varsity team in 1973, continuing to leave his mark on the field and court in the subsequent years.
After graduating from East High School in 1974, Ron ventured into the workforce, holding various positions before finding his niche with the City and County of Denver. His tenure there laid the groundwork for a career dedicated to public service, later transitioning to roles within the Denver Traffic Department and eventually finding fulfillment at the Martin Luther King Recreational Center.
In 2002, Ron embraced a new challenge by joining a pioneering Black-owned technology startup. His decision to become the company's first non-family employee underscored his adventurous spirit and belief in innovation. Despite the demanding nature of the role, Ron remained steadfast in his commitment until personal responsibilities called him to prioritize caring for his mother, Levita.
Throughout his journey, Ron found strength and companionship in his longtime partner, Alfreida Bullock, and cherished the bonds shared with his brothers, Junior and Michael Anthony, along with a loving network of nieces, nephews, and friends. Among them, childhood companions Kenneth Jackson and Glenn Conner held a special place in Ron's heart, their enduring friendship a testament to the depth of his relationships.
As Ron's legacy lives on, so too do the memories of his kindness, resilience, and unwavering dedication to those he loved. In honoring his memory, may we find inspiration in his commitment to faith, family, and community.
Those We Love
Those we love don't go away;
They walk beside us every day.
Unseen, unheard but always near.
Sill loved, still missed, and very dear.
Wishing us hope in the midst of sorrow,
Offering comfort in the midst of pain,
both today and tomorrow.
