Raymond is survived by mother, Irene Steward; siblings Mike Steward (Toni), Steve Steward (Jan), and Mark Steward (Kristy); nieces and nephews: Jennifer, Mike, Tyler, Desiree, Kendra, Nicholas, Spenser, Payton, Danika, and Bailey; many great nieces and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father Raymond Steward; brothers Gene and John Steward, and sister Mary Steward.
Raymond was a special person who was a friend to many and was known in the corporate setting in that way. He was exceptionally skilled as an architect as a software engineer supporting many national defense initiatives while working with agencies such as NASA and the NSA.
Raymond’s special talents began early in life as a young child known as “Scooby” the computer whiz kid mastering the Rubics Cube and at 10 years of age interpreting the algorithms of PacMan achieving recognition in competition against adults. At the age of eight, he worked on his first computer, the Commodore PET, and he still had in his possession, his original TRS 80. His thirst for knowledge related to computer science was never quenched; often he would say, “I am still learning.” He was passionate about learning and analyzing systems in order to bring to life complex concepts.
Raymond was an avid fan of Apple products and was always seeking cutting edge technology when new products were introduced. Throughout his life, he patiently taught both the young and old, the basics of computer science.
Raymond was fluent in Portuguese and maintained friendships from his time spent in Brazil as a Rotary Exchange Student during his senior year in Georgetown High School and later as a language translator for the stock exchange.
Raymond graduated from the University of Illinois with a B.S. in Math and Computer Science. He also studied aeronautics and flew planes while studying which fueled his space explorations.
Raymond loved the Colorado landscape and enjoyed a beautiful view of the Rockies each morning where he made time for relaxation.
Raymond “Scooby” Steward Jr. will be dearly missed but as life begins on earth he now joins his family in heaven.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.AdvantageAurora.com for the Steward family.
