After growing up Mary's life took her to Denver, Colorado where she married and made a home for herself, and her children Troy Ann, Dale, Verdell, and Sharon. She was an amazing homemaker and enjoyed weekend fishing trips and camping out overnight. Her children especially remember the bid whist parties, playing dominos and backgammon with their mother. But the catch was that Mary would cheat in whatever game she was playing. She pushed the envelope in her favor to come out with the victory when she was about to lose. She could sure be a sore loser. Even though she cheated in every board game she ever played with her children, they would all have a good laugh about it.
Mary had a gift for making a meal. She cooked the best holiday meals, if you saw the movie (Soul Food) and their holiday spread you will get the picture. When she wasn't willing to cook, she loved Red Lobster. Her children would ask what she wanted to eat and she would blurt out Red Lobster like she was asking for McDonalds. She was an impeccable dresser as well. Every outfit she wore matched from head to toe, including her jewelry, shoes and purse.
Mary was a devoted Christian who loved God with all of her heart. This gave her a lot of strength in the times of loss and sorrow. She had some misguided opinions and had some strained moments with her children in their adulthood, but through her faith and devotion, and the faith and devotion she taught her children, they always came back around to one another.
Troy Ann, Verdell and Sharon wish to say to their beloved mother Mary: Now Mom you have all of the answers to the questions you used to ask us. In devotion we can say we love you very much. Though you had some misguided opinions we are glad you will have no more hurt, pain or suffering. God bless and may peace be with you always and forever. With love, Troy, Verdell and Sharon.
James wishes to express his deep love and appreciation for his grandmother: As a child he loved spending the night with her, because in the morning she would make pancakes, and they were the best. Fighting over the last mozzarella stick at Red Lobster and her slipping him a folded up $5 bill under her thumb from time to time. He talked a lot as a child and I guess she would get tired of talking back so she would just start saying un huh. One day he asked her grand mom why do you keep saying un huh and she just fell out laughing without explaining why, because she did not want to tell him he talk too much. He heard un huh so much, to this day he says un huh in almost every conversation without realizing it. Rest in peace grand mom. Love you James
