Our beloved Ines Horentencia Hidalgo was born in Quito, Ecuador on October 16, 1926. She passed peacefully at home, while surrounded by family on November 5, 2018. Inesita, at 36 years of age, immigrated to the United States in 1962, then later married Jorge Enrique Hidalgo on August 10, 1964, possibly the only Ecuadorians to be married on Ecuador’s Independence Day. Ines worked for many years as a caregiver and in later years found her passion in full time ministry work as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Her true love for Jehovah God, and deep love of people gave her enduring strength to boldly share the truth with all whom she met. Inesita was an incredibly rare and special women, whose loving, kind, generous, and witty nature touched the hearts of all who knew her.
Ines was predeceased by her parents Hortencia and Manuel Pazminos, as well as her sister, Esther Herrera, and her brother, Luis Antonio Avila. She raised her six loving children, Marcia Taveras, (Marino), Oscar Gongora, George Gongora, (Darane), Alexandra Petrillo, (Alexander) , Daniel Hidalgo, (Gretchen) and Melissa Rendek, (John). She was also blessed with many loving grandchildren; Jesse, Daniel, and Wilmy Taveras, Julien and Ashton Gongora, Andrew and Candice Gongora, Justin Radulovich, Jessica Weissman, Sydney and Caitlyn Hidalgo, and Kameron and Madison Rendek.
In 1995 Ines, Jorge, Daniel, and Melissa moved to Colorado Springs, CO. Ines very much loved Colorado Springs, as Pikes Peak reminded her much of her homeland in Ecuador where a similar mountain, Cotopaxi, towers over the landscape. She also loved her birds, cats, and whatever other animals her children would bring home.
Jorge and Ines were married 54 wonderful years. Jorge faithfully and with great compassion, cared for the love of his life all of her days. They shared countless memories together, loving on their family, friends, and all who were blessed to have met them.
Ines and Jorge moved to Aurora, CO in 2012 to live out their golden years in the care and loving support of her daughter, Melissa and John Rendek, with grandchildren Madison and Kameron, and other family close by. Inesita was very fond of warm weather, nevertheless, despite the cold climate in Colorado, there was no other place that she would rather be than with her youngest, or as she would say, “her last push”.
Ines is survived by her husband Jorge E. Hidalgo, her children, and grandchildren. Also survived by her nephew Dr. Jaime Herrera, his wife Lupita, and their children, James and Janice. Also survived are the clan of Hidalgo-Pinto’s, Castillo’s, and Vallejo’s from Ecuador.
