Gregory was born January 20, 1957 in Harlem Hospital, NYC. He died in Auburn Medical Center in Auburn, Washington on November 16, 2023.
Being a military brat, Greg was well travelled and moved every two years as a child. After graduating from high school in Vicenza, Italy, where he represented the USA in the Albert Schweitzer International U18 Basketball Tournament, he went on to play basketball on a scholarship at Youngstown State University. He met his first wife, Ethel, in Akron and they had two daughters, Mia and Brandi. They moved from Ohio to Colorado in 1981.
After divorcing, Greg moved to Seattle, WA in 1992. His motto was "Go West." Here he met Letecia and they were blessed with his only son, Travis. After becoming a single father, he agreed Travis should come live with family in Colorado. Greg returned to Colorado in 1999 and began working for PepsiCo., The Denver Post and Ankmar Doors where he made many friends. Greg returned to Seattle in 2017. There he struggled and developed health problems which led to both legs being amputated and he passed from the complications.
Gregory was known for his quick wit, sense of humor, big smile, gregarious personality and generosity. He was a people magnet and was known as "the Mayor" by his friends. He was also known to give away his last dime even though he needed it more. He never showed a sign of depression but was always a person in search of a laugh, even though his life was filled with many challenges.
Gregory is survived by his mother, two daughters, one son, one brother, one sister, eight grandchildren, a niece, a nephew, a host of aunts, uncles, and many cousins. The family and all of his friends will miss him Immensely.
A gathering will be held on Friday, January 19, 2024 from 2-4PM at Advantage Aurora Chase Mortuary, 1095 Havana Street, Aurora, CO 80010. During this time friends and family are encouraged to enjoy refreshments and share the wonderful memories they have of Gregory.
