Glen Dale Strait, 83, passed away on January 23, 2018 in his home in Aurora, CO. Born in Sanborn, IA on March 31, 1934 to Joseph and Pearl Strait, he was the youngest of 8 children. His parents preceded him in death along with his wife of 46 years, Luanna Marie Strait (Patterson). Glen was also the last surviving sibling in his family. He is survived by his children Glenda James, Philip Strait, Rhonda Davis, Rob Strait, Kevin Strait and Kirk Strait as well as 12 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.
After serving four years in the Air Force, and working as an Accountant at Benjamin Moore Paints, Glen retired as a State Farm Agent after 35 years of service. His greatest passion in life was music. He was a self-taught guitar player and also played the harmonica, dobro, accordion, and mandolin. He was often times found with a guitar in hand ready to play and sing some old country song. In addition to his love for music, Glen treasured spending time with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed square dancing, in which he spent several years as a square dance caller. Other passions were hiking, fishing, woodworking, camping and gambling at Blackhawk.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, February 3rd at noon at Advantage Aurora Chase Chapel located at 1095 S. Havana Street, Aurora, CO. There will also be a public viewing on Friday, February 2nd from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm.
