Carole Kay Reikofski Lohr, born August 24, 1962 at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center in Aurora. She was the second of three children born to Ella Suzann Harlin Reikofski and David Delano Reikofski. Her brothers are Scott Harlin Reikofski and Jeffrey David Reikofski.
Carole and her siblings come from a long line of patriots as the Harlins/Harlans have been in America since the early 1700s starting in what is now southeast Pennsylvania.
Carole was educated at William C. Hinkley High School (Class of 1980) and held double Bachelor’s degrees in Elementary and Special Education as well as a Masters degrees in Special Education from the University of Northern Colorado. She was a dedicated educator for 38 years, teaching Special Education in Kansas and Colorado, and also spent a few years in administration as a Dean of Students. She was respected as a mentor for younger teachers and an award-winning teacher, including having been recognized by Governor Romer’s wife for her excellence. She enjoyed designing learning games and writing children’s stories. She was also a talented crafter and painter. Carole was divorced.
She left this world much too soon, but not before making lasting impressions on thousands of students as well as other teachers. Considering the ripple effect, her positive impact on the lives of students through nearly four decades, and eventually on their spouses, children and others in their lives, Carole’s positive impact continues through countless people.
A visitation for Carole will be held Tuesday, February 18, 2025 from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM at Advantage Aurora Chase Chapel, 1095 Havana Street, Aurora, CO 80010.
