William C. Turner, lifelong resident of Richmond Co., entered into eternal rest on Friday, January 24, 2020. William graduated from Lincolnton County High School. He retired from Kendall-Covidien with 35 years of service, then went on to work another 15 years with Avis Car Rental. William enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, and was an avid pilot and loved flying. He found great joy in tending to his garden, just to bless someone else with his crops. William was of Methodist faith and his family is at peace knowing that he is safe in the arms of Jesus.
William was preceded in death by his son, William Glenn Turner; parents, Thomas and Janie Mae Turner; brother, Thomas Turner Jr., sisters, Barbara Moffit and Margaret Powell; a grand-daughter, Lindsey Sue Loveday and son-in-law, Randy Padgett.
Left to cherish his memories is his loving companion, Nancy Janke; daughters, Susan T. (Wayne) Sweat, JoAnn Padgett, Judy Loveday, Cheryl (Bob) Dehner, Teresa (Jay) Lovell; sisters, LaVern (Donald) Wilson, Myrna (Tony) Maddox, Vera (Perry) Maddox; brother, Allen Turner; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at the Lumpkin Road Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home. The family will receive friends starting at 1 PM until the service hour there at the funeral home. Interment will follow the services at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Peyton R. Sweat, Bryan M. Loveday, Donald Wilson Jr., Jeffrey Heath, Andy Lindsay, and Jay Klien and Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Avis Car rental.
The family would like to thank the staff of Westwood Nursing Home for their compassionate care for William during his illness.
