Mrs. Willette Poole Jeffcoat, age 89, of Augusta, Georgia went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, August 4, 2024, at her home. She was born on their family farm in Orangeburg County, South Carolina. She met the love of her life, Roy, at Pelion High School and they were married for 37 years until his untimely death at the age of 56. They had four sons and moved to Augusta in 1968. They were members of Silvercrest Baptist Church for many years and were charter members of Windsor Spring Baptist Church.
She was a loving wife, mother and homemaker. She was thankful to be able to stay at home while assisting her husband with his construction business. When her sons married she was so happy to finally have some girls in the family. The special blessings of her grandchildren and great grandchildren gave her such joy. She welcomed them at any time with warm hugs and homemade treats. She enjoyed traveling and she loved to sew and cook, especially for others. She will be missed dearly, but her memories will be treasured forever.
She is survived by her sons Andy L. Jeffcoat (Connie); Ronnie D. Jeffcoat (Susan); Steven L. Jeffcoat (Terri); and her daughter-in-law Laura Jeffcoat (wife of Darrell); her sister Joyce P. Browder; her grandchildren Kimberly Goolsby (John), Jennifer Barton (Rodney), Angela Thurman (Michael), Sandra Petty (Chad), Lee Jeffcoat (Lindsay), Joel Jeffcoat (Ashley), Emily Aceves (Jonathan), Micah Jeffcoat (Natalie), Sarah Hood (Kory), Phillip Jeffcoat and Jacob Jeffcoat (Maria) and her 25 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Roy Lee Jeffcoat; her son Darrell D. Jeffcoat; her parents Ernest William Poole and Ina Livingston Poole; and her brothers Otis B. Poole and George B. Poole.
A celebration of life service will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, August 9, 2024 in the chapel at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 2524 Lumpkin Road, Augusta, Georgia 30906 with Rev. Rodney Barton officiating. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service.
Serving as pallbearers are grandsons Lee Jeffcoat, Joel Jeffcoat, Micah Jeffcoat, Jacob Jeffcoat, and Phillip Jeffcoat, and great grandsons Drew Goolsby, Caleb Barton, Joshua Barton, and John Ross Jeffcoat.
Following the service a private burial will be held in Hillcrest Memorial Park, 2700 Deans Bridge Rd, Augusta, Georgia 30906.
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to her loving caregivers: Frances Cooper, Dot Henley, Mary Redmond and Debbie Mansell, who went above and beyond to provide not only the best of care for her the last four years, but also sweet friendships. Special thanks also to the staff of Empyrean Hospice.
