Sandra Barton

Sandra Quinn Barton, aged 85, of Augusta, Georgia passed away on April 16, 2023 in Augusta. She is predeceased by her parents, William and Maureen Hughes. Sandra was married to the late Vernon Barton, Senior, who was employed by the city of Augusta. She spent most of her life in Augusta, where she became a hairstylist. She owned and operated Beauty Unlimited on Peach Orchard Road for over twenty years. After selling her shop, she worked part time at the Holly Hill Beauty Shop.

She leaves behind three children, Christopher (Nancy) Quinn, of Augusta, Georgia; Linda Quinn of Aiken, South Carolina; and Thomas Quinn of New Orleans, Louisiana; two grandsons, Ryan Quinn of Las Vegas, Nevada; and Julian (Tenay) Quinn of Coral Gables, Florida, parents of her great-granddaughter, Thalia Quinn. She was the sister of the late W. B. Hughes of Pelion, South Carolina; the late Betty Riddle Jensen of Augusta, Georgia; and George Hughes of Greenville, South Carolina. She was the aunt of Stanley (Collette) Riddle of Augusta, Georgia; and Glenda Hughes Gilstrap of Lexington, SC.

Sandy enjoyed her work as a cosmetologist and loved being around her dear patrons. She loved going to the beach and spent many hours at Tybee Island where she had many good friends over the past 30 years. She enjoyed many things including her yard work, working out at the Y on Tobacco Road, and her little bird Casey that filled a lot of happy hours for her. She had several very close friends that were very dear to her.

Her quick wit and dry sense of humor added value to her relationships, and she was adored by her family and friends. She was the life of every social and holiday gathering as she was committed to fun, smiles, and loving others. Her authenticity made her approachable as she spoke into the lives of those she cherished. She will be greatly missed.

She will be laid to rest at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 2700 Deans Bridge Road, Augusta, Georgia. There will be a graveside service at 3 pm on Friday, April 21, 2023.
