Richard Holmes Jr.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at 4pm in the Lumpkin Road Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Tad Marshall officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Born in Covena, GA, he was the son of the late Richard Holmes, Sr. and Eva Page Holmes. Richard owned and operated Holmes Service Station for 45 years. Even with his handicap, he was always a very independent person not asking for help from other people. He was a member of the Mopar Club and GaSCar Club. Richard had a great sense of humor and was the best dad, grandfather, and great grandfather anyone could have.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Chris Holmes, daughter Sherry Lynn Holmes, sisters, Ollie Lafontain, Lucille Reeves, and Brother, Eddie James Holmes. He is survived by his daughter, Theresa (Timothy) Crouch, North Augusta, SC, sons, Kenneth (Ellen) Holmes, North Augusta, SC, Randall (Dianna) Holmes, Sr. Hephzibah, GA, sisters, Ruby Sparks, Blythe, GA, Virginia Tanner, Augusta, GA, grandchildren, Brad Montgomery, Jessica D’Angiolillo, Ben Holmes, Amanda Carpenter, Randall Holmes, Jr., Sherry Shauffelburger, and 12 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Monday, June 16, 2014 from 7-9pm at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 2524 Lumpkin Road, Augusta.
