Perry Wayne James Sr.

Mr. James was a native of Augusta, GA who has lived here his whole life. When he was younger, he suffered from Polio and had struggles due to his illness. He did not let the struggles stop him from living his life and later became a pipefitter for the Local 150. He loved going to the dirt track and watching cars race, NASCAR and cherished the beauty of older cars. In his spare time, he enjoyed sitting on his porch and listening to music. He also adored and loved his family, especially his grandchildren.

Mr. James is preceded in death by his father, Charles Hubert James Sr.; and brother, Charles Hubert James Jr. Survivors include his mother, Ann Copeland; sister, Beverly Ann James Giffin; son, Perry James Jr. (Samantha); step-daughter, Candice Overstreet; step-son, Brian Mims; grandchildren, Khloe James, Sierra Mims, Logan Jacobs and Shelby Mims; nieces and nephews, Brittany Ann McElmurray (Cody), William “Trip” Giffin (Neva), Cherri Cook, Dale Cook and Harlie Giffin; and a great-nephew, Stetson who is on the way; and dear friends, Keith Cook (Lisa) and Doug Powell.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 11, 2023 from 7-9pm at Elliott Sons Funeral Home on Lumpkin Road. Funeral service will be held on Friday, May 12, 2023 at 2pm at the Lumpkin Road Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
