Martha Coffman Smith

Mrs. Smith was an active member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. In retirement, she volunteered for Hospice at the former St. Joseph Hospital and enjoyed reading and adult coloring. She was a longtime, active, and faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and loved her family deeply.

Mrs. Smith is preceded in death by her loving husband, Clarence Harold Smith, and her parents. Survivors include her sons, Michael Owen Smith (Cindy) of Lancaster, Ohio, Thomas Howe Smith of North Augusta, South Carolina, David Edward Smith of Augusta, Georgia, Patrick Randolph Smith of Wilmington, Delaware; her granddaughter, Heather Ashlyn Smith of Colorado; and her brother, Dick Coffman of Lake Okeechobee, Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

The family will receive friends from 5-7pm Tuesday, February 23, 2016, at Elliott Sons Funeral Home on Lumpkin Road. Funeral services will be held at 11am Wednesday, February 24, 2016, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 2607 Lumpkin Road, Augusta, Georgia 30906. Interment will be at 12pm on Thursday, February 25, 2016, at Beaufort National Cemetery, 1601 Boundary St., Beaufort, South Carolina.
