She was born on May 31, 1945 in Batangas, Philippines to the late Felipe Castillo and Mauricia Meer. Marietta was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, auntie and friend. She was an example of faith and love. A true testament to her character, Marietta gave and shared what she had even if she did not have much. Marietta’s pride and joy was her grandchildren. She was known as the “traveling grandmother” going from state to state visiting her grandchildren wherever they were located. Above all, Marietta was always their number one fan and supporter in all their endeavors. She will be greatly missed.
Marietta is preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Buenaflor Umali, Victoria Castillo, Bertilla Rada and Leovina Jalbuena. Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband, Augustus Cavanez; her children, Christine Chua (Martino), Christopher Hallera-Cavanez (Christine) and Cheryline Lim (Joe). She leaves behind 7 grandchildren, Mariel and Martin Chua, Cy, Seth and Chloe Cavanez, and Jordan and Jolene Lim; a brother, Philip Castillo (Marie); and a host of nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
The family would like to thank Mrs. Tess Green for her friendship, care and compassion she showed our loved one during her final days.
