John P. Smith Jr.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at 11am at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 2524 Lumpkin Road, Augusta. Interment will be private.

Born in Norfolk, CT, he was the son of the late John Philip Smith, Sr. and Frances Zehner Smith. He retired from the Army after 28 years of service. He was a member of the VFW. Philip was a retired manager with the bowling alley at Fort Gordon.

He is survived by his children, Carolyn F Harvey, Barnegat, NJ; Margaret A. Snead, Colts Neck, NJ; Peter M Smith, Leola, PA; and 6 grandchildren – Brian Smith, Kelly Smith, Tanya Harvey, Raymond Harvey, Denise Harvey, and Frank Snead. He is also survived by his siblings; Richard Smith, Judith DiGiro, Virginia Ficara, and Cynthia Beaulieu. His brother William Smith recently passed on November 13, 2012.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 24, 2012 from 10am until the hour of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the American Lung Association, 3630 J. Dewey Gray Circle, Augusta, GA, 30909.
