Mr. Kelly leaves behind a legacy that spans roles as father, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather, soldier and an unapologetically proud Irishman. He was a true American with a spirit as resilient as the land he embraced. In his 96 years, he embodied bravery and toughness, passing on not just his values but a rich tapestry of family roots. His family will always remember the lessons taught and will carry them on for generations to come. Mr. Kelly retired from the United States Army and served multiple tours including in World War II, Vietnam and Korea. After serving his country in the military, he retired from Georgia Power at Plant Vogtle. Mr. Kelly was a man of God and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Augusta, GA.
Mr. Kelly is preceded in death by his loving wife, Maria Kelly; parents, John and Theresia Kelly; brothers, Thomas and Gene Kelly; and grandson, Thomas Kelly. Survivors include his children, Evelyn Maria Wagner, Gabriele Kelly, Patricia Anne Adams (Jeff), Thomas Kelly, Diana Hawes (Alvin) and Timothy Kelly; siblings, Barbara Stroffolino (Joseph), Bobby Kelly and sister-in-law, Frances Kelly; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild on the way.
Funeral services will be held at 10am on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park with military honors.
