.Augusta, GA – Mrs. Joan Watkins Short entered into rest on Saturday, April 23, 2016.
Mrs. Short was born on October 2, 1936 to the late Miller and Evelyn Watkins. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Augusta. She worked in retail for many years, and she took very good care of her household. She enjoyed gardening, cleaning, and cooking for her family and friends. With her uplifting spirit, she had a special way of making your day brighter. Everyone who knew her was blessed by her.
She is preceded in death by her husband, George William Short, Jr.; her son, George “Bill” William Short III; and her parents. Survivors include her daughter, Jan Short; and her sister, Gloria (Stanley) Crouch.
The family will be receiving friends at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 followed by a memorial service at 2pm, at the First Baptist Church of Augusta. Arrangements are being handled by Elliott Sons Funeral Home on Lumpkin Road.
