Gary Gray

Affectionately known as “Lallie”, Gary Gray, 64, passed away unexpectedly at home on Saturday, June 3, 2023, in Augusta, Georgia. He was born with a naturally sweet and kind soul, a heart of gold, a big smile for everyone he met, and was always a joy to be around. He was known to be adventurous during his teenage years, joining the United States Navy and receiving an honorable discharge.

Gary was born to Thelma Bolden and Gussie Gray of Estill, South Carolina on November 26, 1958. He spent his formative years in Estill, Martinez, GA, Atlanta, GA, Hackensack & Paterson, NJ. He married twice - first in 1987 and wed Mary Alston of Albany, NY, and then to Eileen Gray of Brooklyn, NY. Gary enjoyed playing basketball, visiting coastal cities as he enjoyed the water, attending sporting events, spending quality time with his family and friends, running and walking. Gary was blessed with a large and loving family and many titles: husband, dad, brother, son, cousin, friend, confidant, and grandpa.

His mom, dad, brothers (Henry, Jimmie, James, Marion and Gussie Jr.), and two sisters (Mary and Louise) preceded him in death. He is survived by his sisters and brother (beloved Margaret Gray Chandler, Lois Fair, Shurland Watson Price, and Richard Gray (died 6/8/2023); his daughters (Tyler Simone, Brittany Nicole, and Tianee Marie) and son (Samuel); his grandchildren (Mason, Noah, Jayce, Natalynn, Nola and Navy); and many more family and friends.
