Eva Irene Faith Hawkins Erwin, 85, went to be with the Lord on December 13, 2022. She was born in Independence, Missouri to Floyd and Nettie (Haney) Hawkins and was the youngest of six children. She is survived by her sister, Blanche Kinnevan, of Kansas City, Missouri.
She is survived by her children, Vickie Erwin Heard and husband Harvey, of Boise, Idaho; Kenneth Erwin, Jr. and wife Catherine of Charlotte, North Carolina; and Randy Erwin and wife Joyce of Augusta, Georgia. There are also 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Eva married the love of her life, Kenneth Lane Erwin, Sr. of Rome, Georgia, on June 25, 1957, and began her life as a military wife. Their first assignment took them to Mildenhall Air Force Base in England. They moved to Augusta, Georgia in 1983 where they were both very active in church and continued to travel the world.
Eva had a passion for helping in the church, especially the coffee shop, and loved her church family at The Sanctuary in Evans, Georgia. In 1990, Ken was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. Together they helped establish the Parkinson’s Support Group in the CSRA (Central Savannah River Area). Eva shined in her ministry of helps during her long tenure with the group.
Our family extends a special thank you to the staff at The Claiborne at Westlake, her home for the last two years. They loved Eva daily, appreciated her humor and shared her love of chocolate.
