Mr. Jones was a Marine Corps WWII Veteran and a Congressional Medal of Honor recipient. After his services to his country, Mr. Jones worked and retired from the Veterans Administration Hospital. He worked in several jobs at the Augusta National, Augusta Country Club and the GA War Veterans Nursing Home. Mr. Jones was a very devoted husband and father. He is preceded in death by a devoted and loving wife, Mary Sue Jones; three sons, Calvin Jones Jr., Alfred Jones, Willie Jones; two daughters, Peggy Davis (John) and Elizabeth Jones; and his mother, Elizabeth Stephens.
Survivors include four sons, Carl (Clara) Jones, Darryl Jones, Glenn Jones, Keith (Yvette) Jones; four daughters, Carolyn (George) Mills, Cynthia Neals, Barbara Castleberry, and Renita (Guy) Walker. I addition, he was survived by a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Throughout his life, Mr. Jones touched many people with his friendly demeanor. He enjoyed talking about his military life and his love for cooking and eating out. He enjoyed the company of his grandchildren and just as proud of their accomplishments as he was of his own children. He always gave of his time and stayed on task. He was a doer and not just a thinker. He maximized all that God had given him.
Funeral services will be held at 11am, Monday, January 8, 2024 at the Lumpkin Road Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home. A visitation will be held from 3-5pm, Sunday, January 7, 2024 at Elliott Sons Funeral Home on Lumpkin Road.
