Augusta, Ga. - Mr. Alvin John Estilette, 88, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, February 9, 2016. He was born on October 19, 1927 in Whiteville, LA to Claude and Louena Estilette. Al was preceded in death by his wife Leila and later by his wife Betty. He is survived by his daughter Elaine (Alan) Cox; son, Mike (Sandy); step-daughter, Sandra(David) Tatum; step-son, Ken (Norma)Kennedy; sisters, Alice (Percy) Ortego and Margaret Fontenot; granddaughters, Audrey and Mollie Estilette and great grandson Jaxson.
Al was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church serving as an usher most Saturday evenings. He retired from the US Army as SFC after serving for over 20 years. He was a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. After his retirement from the Army, he worked in the insulation business for H &H Insulation Company, retiring as Vice President. He loved traveling, working in his yard and fishing and he was a member of multiple Bass Fisherman Clubs. The family would like to send special thanks to the staff and friends at the Augusta Garden for taking special care of him.
The family will be receiving friends 6 PM to 8 PM Friday, February 12, 2016 at the Lumpkin Road Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held 1 PM Saturday February 13, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, interment will follow at Bellevue Memorial Gardens. Rev. Mark N. Van Alstine and Deacon Greg Bernard will be officiating.
