Bill was born May 27, 1917 in Worcester Mass to Mildred & William Satchell. He grew up in Worcester & the Bronx where he met Mary Reilly to whom he was married for 43 years. Mary died in 1989
His 22 year career in the Air Force took him and his family to Panama, Alaska and many states in between. Rising to the rank of Master Sergeant, he saw service in both WWII and Korea. After his military career he continued to work in the aircraft industry specializing in hydraulic systems first at Hamilton Standard in Hartford CT and then for Piper Aircraft at their Lakeland, FL facility.
He never lost his love for aircraft and as he would tell you at every opportunity, his absolute favorite was the B 52. He was impressed with the simplicity of the design and how easily the aircraft could be modified to include the latest in technology.
He is survived by his brothers Lynton Satchell and Robert Missig, daughters Leslie Blount and Monica Lemon and sons Timothy, Michael & Kevin. He has 13 grandchildren & 19 great grandchildren.
His family and friends feel his loss but celebrate his life – and know that he is now with his beloved Mary once again.
Visitation is Saturday, December 9, 2017 from 2-3 pm with services at 3:00 pm, both at Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home, 2198 K-Ville Avenue, Auburndale, FL. The family will receive friends for a food and fellowship time following the committal service.
