Joyce Baker, age 95, of Winter Haven, Florida entered into rest on Sunday, April 6, 2025. She was born on May 30, 1929, in Capron, Illinois the daughter of Marion and Laura Main and later raised by Howard and Pearl Larson.
Joyce graduated from Capron High School in 1947 before attending Rockford School of Nursing for one year. On June 26, 1948 she married the love of her life, Calvin Baker, and together they raised their family.
She enjoyed several hobbies including gardening and reading, but faith and family marked Joyce’s life. She enjoyed listening to sermons and treasured the company of her grandchildren and her friends.
Joyce is survived by her daughter Vickie Ryan of Winter Haven, FL and son James Baker (Gini) of Poinciana, FL; three grandsons, Carson Ryan, Gannon Ryan, and James Baker; one granddaughter Ashley Buettner (Nick); as well as her great grandchildren Grayson, Jason, Kylie, Khloe, Nicholas, and Bentley, sister Norma Snyder, and many nieces and nephews she kept in touch with. She was preceded in death by brothers Russell Main and Meryl Main, and her husband, Calvin Baker.
She will be remembered for her peaceful approach and how she modeled her Savior in selfless compassion for others.
Joyce will be laid to rest on July 4, 2025 at 12:30 at Oakwood Cemetery in Sharon, Wisconsin. Following the service the family will be gathering at Sharon Park and invites guests to dress casual.
