Irene moved to Florida in 1956, just a month after she and the love of her life, John Ingram, were married. She was a woman of God who was an active member of Carters Baptist Church in Lakeland for over 30 years, most of those years serving as a Sunday School teacher. Irene loved her family and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. When not serving in Church or spending time with her family, Irene loved gardening.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Ethel Harter, her beloved husband John Ingram, son Mark Ingram, her three brothers Maxwell Harter, Eddie Harter and Bill Harter and her four sisters Terri Ayer, Shirley Lyons, Kathryn Carter and Sandra Driggers. She is survived by her two children Gail (Keith) Vickery and Annette Ingram and her four grandchildren Mitchell Vickery, Denise Vickery, Bridget (J.D.) Watkins and Aleigha Clemens. Irene also leaves behind her six great grandchildren Christian, Brylee, Baylee, Allie, Damon and Kaiden along with a multitude of extended family members, church family and friends who will miss her dearly.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday, January 27, 2024 from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home in Auburndale. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM followed by a graveside service at Glen Abbey Memorial Gardens in Auburndale.
