April 26th, 1927 – October 27th, 2012
Joe was born in Edmondson County Kentucky to Charlie & Edith Lindsey, and lived most of his life in the Sweeden/Lindseyville area. As a boy, he accepted Christ as his Savior; he was baptized and became a member of Midway Baptist Church of Lindseyville, KY. He enlisted in the US Army as soon as he was old enough near the end of WWII and worked in the motor pool in Panama. After he returned to the States and found work, he married Georgina Ashley of Sweeden, KY on October 16th, 1948. He worked as a mechanic, first on automobiles and then on heavy equipment during the building of most of the Kentucky & Indiana Interstate Highways.
In later years he opened and operated “Joe’s Equipment Supply” in Morgantown, Ky. When he retired and sold his shop, he moved to Elizabethtown, KY, where he lived until 2000 when he moved to the Auburn/Tacoma, WA area to be close to one of his two daughters and family. He was Dad, Grandpa, Papa, Papa Joe and Geempapa. He made friends where ever he lived and will be greatly missed by friends and family.
He was preceded in death by Georgina Ashley Lindsey and his two sisters, Danzel L. Carroll and Hazel L. Skaggs.
He is survived by his daughter Kathy L. Bognar & her husband, Steve Bognar of Madison, NC, and daughter Rebecca L. Bair & her husband, Russell L. Bair of Tacoma, WA,
his four Grandchildren; Karen B. Callaway, Steven Edward Bognar, Chris A. Bair and Jennifer B. Cysensky and his five Great Grandchildren; Aiden Joseph Bognar, Ethan Bognar, Talia Bair, Jacob Cysensky and Quinlan Callaway.
No More Valleys, Dad, Rest in Peace.
