Hiroshi Nakai

Died on July 17, 2014 at Valley Medical Center in Renton, WA at the age of 92.

A graduate of Auburn High School, Hiro also received an honorary degree from the University of Washington.

He married Tokie on December 6, 1945 and was a longtime resident of Auburn and Kent, WA. Hiro owned a farm in Auburn and also worked for the State of Washington. He was a member of the White River Buddhist Temple in Auburn, Japanese American Citizens League, and Lion’s Club.

Hiro was a fan of the Seattle Mariners and UW Huskies football, and enjoyed playing golf, bowling, and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by son Wayne, daughter Cheryl, grandson Craig (Maricar) Nakai, granddaughter Teri (Albert) Nguyen, great grandchildren David, Andrew, and Adam Nakai, and Sophie, Kyan, and Tabitha Nguyen. Hiro was preceded in death by his parents, sister Masako, and son Dale.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 11, 2014 at 11 a.m. at White River Buddhist Temple in Auburn, WA.
