Shelly I know this is way past Gary's passing but I just heard about it.  I was saddened to hear about it and wanted to pass along my condolences to you and your family.  It has been many years since our high school days but I have great memories of you both.

Gary was much too young to leave us.  It sure brought back memories of my brother, Floyd, since he passed at the same age--56.  My thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this time of the passing of another loving relative.  Love, Audrey and family

Shelly, I am so sorry to hear of Gary's passing. He was truly amazing. As written in John 7:33, Jesus said, "I am with you for only a short time, and then I am going to the one who sent me." Dear Shelly, 
When I told my friend about Gary and that we were coming up for his funeral, she asked me if I had stayed connected with Gary all these years since high school.  I told her we hadn't seen Gary except for maybe a reunion, since graduation in 1972. It made me stop and realize that the group of us who went to school together have a very special connection.  One that isn't measured by when we saw each other last.  We all consider Gary our friend, he's part of our story, our history. That kind of friendship is so special and we all should feel so fortunate and blessed to have those kinds of friends. The turn-out for Gary's service says so much about Gary. Obviously our connection is still strong even after almost 39 years.  So for all of us still on this side of Heaven, we will always stay connected, because Gary was that very special kind of friend. Shelly, you are in my prayers.

Holy Moses, Gary Payne is gone, I can't believe it.  My old nemesis from Junior High School and my friend and teammate from Auburn High School. He endeared himself to me even more when he helped pave the way for me to attend Pacific Lutheran University by contacting the coaches and singing my praises. I always admired and looked up to Gary. Just heard. Shocked! So sorry for Shelly and family. Have known Gary since elementary school. Have many great memories and feel privleged to have called him friend. He will be missed. We pray you are overewhelmed by the Spirit of God in the days ahead as you grieve your loss.

We were sadden on hearing of the passing of our friend Gary.  We have only know Gary and his family for our a year, but have come to enjoy being with him.  After buying lot 4, we ran into many challenges of just what to do.  He spent many hours with us to solve our problems and concerns.  It was so nice seeing the big red truck at the cabin and talking about the faith we both held and the great joy we both will share when our time on earth is done.
I remember when we closed the deal he prayed over our lot and blew the safor.
The last time I talked to Gary he ended the call with "God Bless." We will truly miss Gary. May the Lord comfort you and your family is our 
prayer.
