Thomas D. Burgess Sr.

CASCO: Thomas D. Burgess Sr. passed away peacefully on April 17, 2013 at the Country Village Assisted Living in Casco, Maine. He was born on Peaks Island in Maine on October 5, 1932 a son of the late Herman Burgess Sr. and Constance Burgess. He had a special place in his heart for his stepmother, Edith Burgess who also was a loving grandmother to his four children. Tom was predeceased by his three brothers Duke, John and Peter and his sister Clara leaving his two sisters Connie and Stephanie and brother Paul. He attended school on Peaks Island before joining the Army at the age of 17. He served 22 years in the Army, returning in 1971. He was proud of his country and talked a lot about serving in the Army. He married his wife Geraldine Murphy of in 1956. They had four children together. He enjoyed playing poker, cribbage, fishing, lobstering, watching baseball and car races. Tom is survived by his four children, Cathy McGivney and husband Colin, Linda Goss and husband Jerry, Thomas D. Burgess Jr. and wife Joanne and Peter Burgess and wife Raeann. He also leaves behind his loving grandchildren Katie and Kyle Thompson, Bob, Aimee and Mike Burgess, Adam Doughty and Danielle, Jerry Goss Jr. and Brianne, Brandica Wasel and Mike, Jessica Hurd and Jay, Kelci and Zack Burgess as well as great grandchildren Austin and McKenna Doughty, Gage and Faten Burgess, Allie Thompson, Kahlil Hurd and Madison Goss. He will be sadly missed by his friends at the Country Village Assisted Living in Casco and by many nieces and nephews. We love you Daddy! Tom was predeceased by his loving wife of 51 years as well as three brothers Duke, John and Peter and his sister Clara. A graveside service will take place at the Upper Gloucester Cemetery in New Gloucester on Wednesday April 24 at 1pm with military honors .
