Auburn - Stanley M Jordan, 99, a resident of North Parish Road, Turner, passed away Thursday, March 15, at the Auburn Hospice House. He was born on September 20, 1912, the son of Ernest and Emma (Carver) Jordan. The family then lived in the East Turner community on the Androscoggin River. They moved from there in March of 1926 due to the flooding of that area so the dam could be built down river. Stanley was educated in Turner schools and graduated from Leavitt Institute with the class of 1930. On August 3, 1934 he married the love of his life Rowena McLaughlin. They had 66 happy years together. After raising their family they enjoyed traveling throughout the United States (including Alaska) and Canada. Rowena passed away on December 16, 2000. Stanley spent much of his life farming and as a carpenter. He also worked at Merrill’s Mill in Turner, Page’s in Lewiston making furniture and pool tables, and on the Liberty ships during WW II in South Portland; He also worked many years at the Lewiston Bleachery until it closed. He then went to work as a weaver at the Libby Mill. He was also self-employed for many years in the egg business selling hatching eggs and dairy farming. He retired in 1977. On May 14, 2011 he received the Boston Post Cane as the oldest resident in Turner. He is survived by three sons Larry and his wife Nancy, Daniel and his wife Tina of Turner and Gary and his wife Barbara of Greene. Two daughters Shirley Nabozny and husband Thomas of Yuma, Arizona and Brenda Harrington and husband David of Turner, 19 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren and one sister Rita Hendershot of Turner. He was predeceased by one son Wayne Jordan of Lee, Maine and one daughter Beverly Youland of Parachute, Colorado, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild, brothers Carroll, Ray and LeRoy Jordan and sisters Eva Davis and Alice Hinkley
