Auburn – Roger R. Maheux, 85, of Auburn, passed away in on Sunday February 17, 2019 at The Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn with his family by his side. He was born in Lewiston on August 30, 1933, a son of the late Donozar and Ida (Girouard) Maheux. He attended local schools before serving his country in the U.S. Army. He married the love of his life, Theresa Sullivan, at Holy Cross Church in Lewiston. Together they worked raising their young family in Auburn. They were happily married until Theresa passed away in 2010. Roger worked as a licensed plumber for most of his life and worked the last 12 years of his career at Bates College before retiring in 1999. He was a member of The Knights of Columbus and he enjoyed camping at Moosehead Lake, fly fishing, hunting and cheering on his World Champion Boston Red Sox.
Roger is survived by his son: Dondi Maheux of Auburn, his grandchildren: Emily McConnell, Savanna Pierce, Danielle Williams, Spencer Belanger, 1 great-grandchild: MaKenna Williams and son-in-law: Paul Belanger. Besides his parents, Roger was predeceased by his wife Theresa in 2010, his daughter: Sonya Belanger in 2018, his brother: Arthur Maheux and sister: Theresa Deschenes.
A Celebration of Life will be held at The Fortin Group/Plummer Merrill Funeral Home in Auburn on Saturday March 2 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Committal services will be held in the spring at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Lewiston.
