POLAND---Roger H. Alexander Jr., 79, of Poland passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday December 9, 2017 with his loving wife at his side. He was born in Portland on September 3, 1938 a son of the late Roger and Juliet (Gilliam) Alexander, Sr. He grew up on Orrs Island and at a young age moved to New Orleans. When he was a young man, Roger enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and proudly served his country. He later then joined the Merchant Marines. On December 1, 1984 he married Clorinda (Linda) Miola and they shared many wonderful years together. Roger was a member of the American Legion, a Mason of the Tyrian Lodge in Mechanic Falls, the Kora Temple as a Shriner Clown and the Order of the Eastern Star. Roger will always be fondly remembered for his love of the outdoors and fishing as well as spending quality time with his son and grandson and creating beautiful oil paintings. Roger is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Clorinda (Linda) Alexander of Poland, his sons; Roger Alexander, III and his wife Rowena “Ro” of Mexico, Maine and Benjamin Alexander of Louisiana. He also leaves behind his three grandchildren; Beverly and Brooke Gaudin and James Alexander, three step-grandchildren; Jessica Llerena, Johanna Gentleman and Jerrie Lynn Szulczewski and six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by three children; Beverly and Ilece Alexander and Kenneth Bruhmuller, Jr. as well as two brothers and two sisters.
