Auburn-Rita (Bolduc) Michaud 90, of Auburn passed away Sunday, September 18 at Androscoggin Hospice house in Auburn. She was born on January 21, 1926, the daughter of the late Alcide and Imelda (Bouchard) Bolduc. Rita's mother passed away ten days after childbirth and she was raised by her father and stepmother, Amanda (Michaud) Bolduc. She graduated from St. Louis school in Auburn. She married Rene Michaud on December 4, 1943 before he was deployed overseas with the Army to fight during WW II. Their firstborn son, Richard was 18 months old by the time Rene returned home from the war. Rita was a stay at home mom for many years and did piecework at home sewing moccasins while raising children and caring for her grandchildren. Later while working at Jake and Andy's Donuts for more than 20 years, Rita always remembered to bring home fresh donuts for the family. Rita enjoyed camping at Old Orchard with the grandchildren and they have fond memories of their time together with Grammy at the beach. She also loved going to camp with Rene in the winter and go snowmobiling on all the trails in North New Portland. Rita always looked forward to her many trips to Quebec City to visit her sister and nieces. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed having the whole family over for the holidays meals. Too bad she never wrote down a recipe. Which explains why no one has been able to make pies as delicious as hers! Grammies house was the place to be at Christmas and she created a lifetime of memories there for the whole family. If you wanted to make Rita happy all you had to do was take her out for a lobster roll! Predeceased by her husband Rene and sister Laurette Bolduc Martineau of Quebec, Canada. Rita is survived by her children, Richard and his wife Ruth, Raymond and his wife Carol, and Rachel and her husband Joe. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren, Bob, Mike, Sherri, Angela, Jessica, Andrew, Amanda and ten great-grandchildren. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.thefortingroupauburn.com.
