He was born in Lewiston, Maine on November 16, 1942 the son of the late Noel Cyprien and Rose Alma (Cote) Laplante.
Richard retired as a master electrician from BIW. Prior to that, he was a police officer and an assistant chaplain in the Air Force.
He adored his cat Shasta, playing cribbage (always said “it's just a game”), loved to drop a line to fish in the water, could not miss an episode of Wheel of Fortune, recently discovered Shark Tank and loved watching the Boston Celtics!
He is survived by his two children Christine Perk and Brian Laplante and his wife Erin Laplante; four grandchildren Sydney Ricker and her husband Jack Ricker, Carson Perk, Joey and Araya Laplante; his siblings Robert and Carol Laplante of Sabattus, Maine; Sister-in-law Jeanine Tardiff; along with many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife Arline Laplante; siblings Dolores Dumont, Fleurette Labbay, Priscilla Thomson, Maurice Laplante and Raymond Laplante.
We would like to extend our appreciation and gratitude to all first responders, Dr. Rachel Hamilton and the entire staff at Visiting Nurse Home Care and Hospice.
