Nancy Ann Douglass died Thursday Sept 6 after a valiant fight. Nancy passed on to Heaven with her family at her side. Born November 22, 1936 to Richard and Evelyn Howard, Nancy grew up in East Auburn and attended Auburn Schools graduating from Edward Little. While in high school she was a majorette. Nancy continued her education and was a graduate from CMG (CMMC) school of nursing. She went on to be an OR nurse for many years before working for Dr. Ralph Goodwin until her retirement. After nursing graduation she married the love of her life Larry Douglass on her birthday November 22, 1957, they were married 60 years, something she was very proud of. They raised three daughters together in East Auburn just around the corner from her parents’ home. Nancy was involved in the community, a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, helping with community events and the Little World’s Fair held each year. Nancy was an active member of the East Auburn Baptist Church, in her early years she was a member of the choir with her childhood friends. When walking became more difficult she and Larry continued to watch Sunday services from home then meeting everyone for brunch on Sundays. Nancy was the second oldest member of the EABC.
Nancy was Larry’s snowmobile partner, they traveled to Yellowstone to snowmobile with friends, she enjoyed staying at camp in Eustis and snowmobiling up there. She and Larry always enjoyed dancing, for many years they were members of the Twin City Squares a local Square Dance group. They also enjoyed traveling the US together. When Halloween rolled around you would find Nancy sewing special costumes for her daughters to wear at the East Auburn Community Unit’s annual Halloween party. Nancy was always running her daughters to their music lessons, 4-H meetings, swim lessons, gymnastics, sporting events or a banquet or recital of some sorts; she always kept them very active. Many times they were reluctant but she always had them see things through which only made them the women they are today. Nancy always saw the girls through their science fairs and school projects. Nancy and Larry were always sure to attend the grandchildren and great grandchildren's school functions and sporting events. Nancy is survived by her devoted husband Larry, daughter Bonnie Phillips of Auburn and her companion Chris Cote, Jill Guay of Minot, Deanna Trudeau and her husband Brian of Florida. Nancy has 5 grandchildren Jennifer, Alex, Ashley, Caitie and Howard and two step- grandchildren Danielle and BJ. 4 great grandchildren Matthew, Ada, Autumn and Kylie.
