Michelle (Polley) Abbott, 34, passed away peacefully on Tuesday May 29th, 2018. She was in Utah on vacation and was surrounded by her loving family as she left this world for one without pain. Michelle’s determination and drive during her 5-year battle with breast cancer was nothing short of inspiring.
Michelle was born in Lewiston to Jeffery & Tami (Wilson) Polley on September 11th, 1983. She and her brother Jeff had a very special bond that remained strong into their adult years. She was also blessed with many close friendships over her years in the Oxford community, many whom were like family to her. She graduated from Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School in 2001 and took classes at Central Maine Community College. In 2002 she met the love of her life, Ben Abbott. They were married on August 20th, 2005 and together they created a beautiful family that became Michelle’s strength and greatest joy. Ryan & Riley (ages 11 and 9) were the center of Michelle’s world from the day they were born. During her toughest times it was her boys, and the desire to have every moment possible with them, that kept her going. She created lasting memories with her family and she loved the time they spent camping, boating, and watching her sons play baseball. If she was with her children, she was happy. She was also strengthened by the love and encouragement from her husband, parents, brother, best friends, and the rest of her amazing support system that seemed endless during her trials. Michelle was a caring, compassionate, and loving person. She will always be remembered for her contagious smile, sparkling eyes, and love for her family and for life. She had a way of making the darkest days brighter for everyone who had the pleasure of being around her. Her witty, but always good-natured, sense of humor kept us all laughing and smiling no matter what the day may have brought. It was her optimism, warmth and genuine personality that caused everyone to gravitate to her and ultimately fall in love with the beautiful woman she was. She was strong and courageous; she was passionate and funny; she was the most amazing daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend that anyone could have ever asked for. Her beauty, kindness, and desire to live every day to its fullest was a lesson for all of us. She will live on forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She leaves behind her parents of Auburn. Her husband and sons of Oxford, her brother Jeff Polley, his wife Erika and their three daughters Rebekah, Katelynn and Sarah all of Clinton, Utah. She also leaves behind many close friends, aunts, uncles, and cousins. A time of visitation will be held at the Fortin Group Funeral Home in Auburn on Friday, June 8 from 9:00 to 11:00. A Liturgy of the Word service will be held at 11:00am also at the funeral home.
