She was born in St. Leonard, N.B. Canada on March 15, 1917 the daughter of the late John and Eugenie Lapointe Farrell. She was actually christened, Loretta Marie Ora Lei Cora Farrell; Ora Lei Cora meaning "Golden maiden of the laurel tree". She was affectionately called "Mere" by many. She married Armand J. Gauthier on June 12, 1939 and together raised their family of four children. Loretta had a great love and tenderness for children. She gardened, made quilts, knitted and crocheted. She also worked at Bates Mill and the Pepperill Mill and kept the house in order with love, prayer and good cooking. Survivors include two sons, John Gauthier and wife Pauline of Dunnellen, Florida and Robert Gauthier and wife Barbara of Westerly, Rhode Island; two daughters, Lorraine Luce of Poland and Geraldine Mull and husband Darrell of Worland, Wyoming; 9 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; two brothers, Paul Nathan Farrell of Auburn and Denis Farrell of Old Orchard Beach; a sister, Doris Bellefleur of St Quentin, N.B. Canada. She was predeceased by her husband Armand in 1976.
