Lewiston -Lillian M. Gordon went to be with the Lord on February 18, 2010 after a long illness. She was a resident of Auburn, Maine and maintained her own apartment at the home of her daughter on Cook Street. She was born April 13, 1919 to Thomas and Elise Martin of Hamlin, Maine. During her early years, she attained a seventh grade education. She worked on the family farm and at various other jobs until World War II. During the war, she migrated to Lewiston, Maine with her sisters to seek employment. They lived on Pine Street in Lewiston. She worked at the Bates Mill in Lewiston, the Lown Shoe Mill in Auburn and various other jobs. On April 28, 1951 she married Robert H. Gordon. They resided in Lewiston on Summit Avenue for 34 years before Robert’s death in 1987. Lillian was a homemaker and took care of their only daughter. In 1988 she moved to Auburn to live in her own apartment at her daughter’s home on Cook Street. While on Cook Street, she enjoyed watching her two granddaughters grow up. She enjoyed taking trips to the Portland Mall and eating at Valle’s Restaurant. She enjoyed watching her granddaughters marry and was thrilled to have great grand children. She had a sign on her wall that said “Memere’s My Name and Spoilings My Game.” Her illness took a toll on her mobility and she spent time watching T.V. soap operas, enjoyed reading and sunny afternoons of rocking on her deck. More recent Sunday afternoons were spent playing Bingo with her daughter, granddaughters, and great granddaughters. Lillian is survived by one sister Madelyn Pelletier of Hollywood, Florida. Lillian lived with her only daughter Sandra Bixby and her husband Chet of Auburn, Maine. She was very close to her granddaughters Rebecca Lacasse and her husband Nate of Auburn and Karen Giguere and her husband Rick of Auburn, Maine. She was very proud of her great-granddaughters Casey and Riley Lacasse and looked forward to the birth of her first great-grandson Zachary Giguere in May, 2010. Lillian was predeceased by her husband Robert H. Gordon her brothers Frank, Fred, and Charles Martin and a sister Mable Martin.The family wishes to thank Dr. Seth Gordon “a fellow Gordon” for his kind and compassionate care, and the wonderful staff of 2 East at d’Youville Pavilion for the care, compassion, joy and comfort they gave to Lillian and her family.
